Of Men and Puppets follows the story of an unnamed Boatman, a fateful meeting with a Stranger one fine evening, and the events and conversations that transpire. At its core, Of Men and Puppets is a story of an interaction between a man and a deity, drawing upon elements from Indian folklore, with elements from mythology and folk horror. It explores how not being able to overcome a tragedy in one's past emotionally stunts one's growth and further goes on to explore themes such as the existence of free will, the nature of godhood, and religious guilt, as well as the innate human need to search for meaning. The story acts as a proxy for the reader to attempt to understand themselves, with the Boatman representing each of us and our questions about the nature of things. While an ambitious undertaking, this project covers the first issue in a series.
