This project was sponsored by Integrated Design Services (IDS) NID, in collaboration with Sewa-Samutthan, the project partner. It focused on upgrading the stitching skills of women residing in the Gomtipur area of Ahmedabad. During the initial phase, multiple home visits and one-on-one interactions were conducted to assess the existing skill gaps among the women. These insights played a crucial role in designing a relevant and needs-based training roadmap. Once the participants gave their consent, the program was carried out through a series of structured, phase-wise workshops. The training began with foundational lessons, such as operating a sewing machine, handling fabrics, and practising basic stitches. As the program progressed, the women were introduced to more advanced techniques, including the assembly of garment elements like sleeves, necklines, and shirt components. They also learned to construct a variety of garments, including Kurtis, palazzos, and pants.
