The Graduation Project at NID embodies the "learning by doing" philosophy, allowing a Textile and Apparel Design student to apply design thinking within a professional, real-world context. Partnering with CraftsbyNaari Textile, a social enterprise focused on responsible handicraft practices, the project aimed to bridge the gap between traditional techniques and modern market demands. The process involved comprehensive market research, brand analysis, and trend forecasting to understand evolving consumer lifestyles. By identifying internal production gaps, the project translated these insights into a contemporary collection that emphasises the versatility of heritage crafts. The outcome features a range of products utilising block printing and shibori, reinterpreted through a modern lens. This collaboration successfully demonstrates how traditional textile techniques can be adapted for the current fashion landscape, strengthening brand identity while preserving the essence of handmade craftsmanship.
