AKANKHA focuses on Shibori, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique where fabric is folded, twisted or stitched before being dyed to create unique and detailed patterns. This project includes a deep study of Shibori’s history, different types, and methods, showing its cultural importance and wide range of techniques. The final outcome includes the creation of sarees and dresses using Shibori. Each garment brings together traditional craft skills and modern fashion, showing how old techniques can be used in new and creative ways. The project also looks into how fashion brands work in the real world. It covers important areas like understanding a client’s brief, presenting products professionally, and learning how the fashion industry operates. A major part of the experience was learning how to face challenges and find solutions during the design and development process.
