This graduation project involved designing a silver jewellery collection for Shaya by CaratLane, undertaken as part of the CaratLane Design Incubator after winning its design challenge. Known for modern, artistic silver jewellery, Shaya emphasizes accessibility, craftsmanship, and contemporary expression. The project began with an in-depth study of Shaya’s brand philosophy, market positioning, and consumer base, followed by research into the cultural history of silver jewellery, traditional techniques, and current market trends. Drawing inspiration from the element of Fire, the final concept celebrated strength, resilience, and individuality, reflecting stories of Indian women and aligning with Shaya’s brand ethos. The design process progressed from concept development and form exploration to CAD modelling and production feasibility. A key highlight was experimenting with plique-à-jour, a technique new to the brand, during prototyping. The project translated conceptual narratives into market-ready designs, offering practical exposure to industry workflows and contemporary jewellery design.
