This project explores the design and development of a contemporary luxury furniture collection rooted in Indian craft traditions. Undertaken in collaboration with Nirvaan Design Pvt. Ltd., Noida, the project involved close engagement with artisans, vendors, and in-house manufacturing processes to understand the translation of craft into market-ready furniture. The objective was to create furniture pieces that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities, material richness, and refined detailing. Research included brand study, craft exploration, material analysis, and form development, followed by hands-on involvement in manufacturing processes such as joinery, hardware selection, and finishing techniques. A strong emphasis was placed on brass accents, organic forms, and narrative-driven aesthetics to create a cohesive luxury identity. The outcome is a furniture range that reflects Indian cultural narratives through modern expressions, balancing artistry, functionality, and production feasibility while offering insight into the realities of designing within a professional design-and-manufacturing environment.
