Aparanha ra Chhai follows Ananta, a cab driver in Odisha, whose nights are haunted by recordings of domestic quarrels, a lingering scar from his mother’s suffering. A pair of anklets hanging from his rear-view mirror serves as a constant reminder of past trauma. One morning, he drives Pratap, a retired man whose rigid worldview emerges in subtle yet telling gestures, revealing his refusal to accept inter-caste marriage. As their journey moves from bustling streets to quiet roads, the conversation escalates into an ideological clash between tradition, family honor, and prejudice. Letters and mementos hint at Pratap’s tenderness, yet his biases remain. Meanwhile, Ananta’s silent unrest grows, and news from the car radio foreshadows a darker truth. What begins as a routine ride transforms into a tense psychological duel, a confrontation of memory, trauma, and pride, culminating in an unsettling act of retribution.
