The project DUNE, A Ceramic Serveware Collection was undertaken with Lagavi Pvt. Ltd, a Jaipur-based ceramic tableware brand, over eight months comprising an internship and research-led design development. It emerged from the need to introduce intentional visual character in hospitality tableware, moving beyond the saturated minimalism prevalent until 2022. Responding to renewed interest in maximalism and distinct visual identities, particularly within a Gen-Z-driven market, the collection balances novelty with the functional reliability required by the HoReCa sector. Research into hospitality services, Indian food culture, and serveware typologies informed the design direction. Each product was analysed and reinterpreted through a cohesive visual language. The key intervention was an organic embossed surface inspired by sand dunes, refined to enable secure stacking and improve storage, transport, and service efficiency. The final collection includes plates, bowls, and accent platters, demonstrating how thoughtful surface and form design can enhance brand identity and operational practicality.
