This documentary delves into the craft, culture, and history behind Maku Textiles, a Kolkata-based fashion label led by Santanu Das. Focusing on the Summer Spring 26 collection, the film traces the journey from concept, motif design, and colour selection to weaving, sampling, and production. By documenting the work of weavers in Dainhat, dyers in Kolkata, and the collaborative creative process, the project highlights how traditional textile practices, like Jamdani and Kantha, intersect with contemporary design. The documentary emphasizes craft as both personal and communal, exploring how heritage techniques are preserved, adapted, and reimagined sustainably for modern audiences. It positions fashion as an extension of memory, history, and lived experience, showing garments as vessels of culture, narrative, and continuity.
