Beloved - A Footless Bird, a Limbless Tree is a multi-chapter multimedia project exploring the emotional architecture of queer life in contemporary India. Through photography, voiceover, and archives, the work reflects on how intimacy and domesticity shape identity. The project unfolds in three parts: an account of an abusive relationship, the documentation of a "chosen family" in an Ahmedabad flat, and a long-distance mentorship exploring queer love beyond romance. This project resists linear resolution, instead offering a layered portrait of survival that embraces vulnerability and contradiction. It interrogates how queerness is remembered or hidden in childhood archives and how domestic spaces are remade under societal erasure. Existing as both a film and a photobook, the work offers a counter-archive of feelings and relationality that rarely enters the public record. It seeks to honour the quiet, everyday intimacies that define queer existence in a world that often refuses to see them.
