This project explores the intersection of traditional craft, contemporary design, and emotional storytelling through a collection of hand-knotted wall art rugs. Inspired by village life, the collection conveys themes of community, togetherness, and personal interaction. Comprising six wall rugs of approximately five feet each, the work uses Raw Material Return (RMR) yarn to highlight sustainable practice. The design process involved experimentation with weaving techniques such as tapestry hand knots, loop pile, and flat weave to create varied textures and visual narratives. Collaborative engagement with skilled artisans enabled co-creation, allowing exploration of forms, motifs, and textures. Color, texture, and form were carefully curated to evoke warmth, nostalgia, and vibrancy. Digital tools and visual references supported the artisans while balancing tradition with contemporary expression. The project demonstrates how textile art can serve as a medium for storytelling, cultural representation, and emotional resonance, while promoting sustainability and craft empowerment.
