The study involved an in-depth exploration of jacquard fabric construction and its application in rug manufacturing, alongside analysis of design and production challenges associated with large-scale exports for the younger U.S. consumer market. Market and trend research informed design directions that balance visual innovation, durability, and cost efficiency. The central research question guiding the project is: How can N.C. John & Sons establish itself as a design-driven company while enabling profitable growth, and how can this venture act as a strategic entry barrier against competitors? The project demonstrates how design-led innovation can drive differentiation and long-term competitiveness in the global rug market.
