This graduation project addresses environmental waste and craft decline within India’s textile industry through a circular design approach. Conducted in collaboration with Welspun India Ltd. under its sustainable brand SPUN, the project explores how production waste can be transformed into meaningful lifestyle products while empowering rural women artisans. The objective was to develop two product lines: Carry Within (bags) and Reach Beyond (corporate gifting), using upcycled textiles and blended craft techniques such as macramé, crochet, embroidery, quilting, and patchwork. The process involved field visits to the Anjar sampling centre, waste material mapping, material experimentation, trend research, and collaborative artisan workshops. The outcomes include handcrafted accessories and workspace essentials inspired by regional narratives from Kachchh. The project demonstrates a scalable model where waste becomes opportunity, positioning SPUN as a socially conscious, craft-integrated lifestyle brand.
