This graduation project focuses on redesigning the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) system in the Cvent Core Platform to improve the usability of creating and managing user roles and permissions. The existing system, with over 100 granular permissions, created confusion and errors, especially for non-technical admins. Through stakeholder interviews, user research, and heuristic evaluations, key issues like information overload, inconsistent navigation, and limited guidance were identified. Using a human-centered, iterative design process—including personas, journey mapping, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing—the solution introduces a step-by-step role creation wizard, improved permission categorization, contextual tooltips, and access summaries. Rooted in Universal Design principles, the redesign emphasizes usability, inclusivity, and clarity, reducing errors and cognitive load. The project demonstrates how empathy-driven design can transform complex enterprise systems into intuitive, approachable, and secure workflows, enhancing both operational efficiency and user confidence.
