This project documents the development of four women’s ethnic wear collections for Cottons Jaipur as part of the NID Graduation Project. Conducted over six months, it integrated research, design, and execution while aligning with the brand’s identity of traditional crafts with a contemporary sensibility. The process began with primary research through customer surveys, store visits, and feedback from shoppers and sales staff, alongside secondary research including trend analysis, competitor studies, and brand comparisons. These insights informed the creation of four themed collections, supported by mood boards, silhouette studies, and color palettes. Each collection explored seasonal narratives rooted in Indian aesthetics while offering modern, wearable interpretations. The execution phase involved fabric sourcing, surface design development, sampling, fittings, and technical documentation through detailed tech packs. Attention was also given to production workflows and timelines, providing insight into working with a heritage brand. The project demonstrates how research-driven design can create cohesive collections that reinterpret traditional crafts for contemporary ethnic wear consumers.
