As coworking spaces become a dominant urban workplace model, their open and shared layouts often fail to support focused work, acoustic privacy, and personal control. This project explores how modular furniture, ambient sound interventions, and digital tools can together improve the experience of working within shared environments. Guided by the principle of Modular Autonomy, the project positions furniture as the anchor for system-level change. Field research conducted at 91Springboard, a leading coworking provider, revealed key user challenges including noise disturbance, lack of visual privacy, and limited ability to personalise workspaces. These insights informed a three-part design intervention: a Smart Desk with ergonomic adaptability and detachable acoustic panels, FocusFlow—an ambient sound-masking device for spatial zoning, and a UX+ App enabling desk booking, crowd awareness, and acoustic control. The outcome is a scalable, integrated workspace ecosystem that aligns furniture, sound, and digital interaction to support focus without compromising flexibility.
