Ms. Sucharita Beniwal
This graduation project involved designing a festive embroidery and print collection for Tulsi by Neeru Kumar’s Autumn/Winter 2024 apparel line. Rooted in an interest in material experimentation and tactile surface development, the project explored embroidery and apparel as new areas of practice while building on prior experience in surface design. The process began with an in-depth study of the brand’s past festive collections, examining design language, materials, silhouettes, and colour sensibilities to ensure aesthetic and commercial alignment. The brief emphasized creating a festive range that felt younger, fresher, and easily desirable for a wider audience. Two parallel design directions emerged. The embroidery collection, titled Stardust, drew inspiration from celestial elements such as galaxies and constellations, translating them into layered, tactile surfaces that conveyed luminosity, depth, and quiet opulence. Alongside this, a small yet versatile print collection was developed as a complementary offering within the same seasonal range.
