Living Lines reimagines housing for young urban migrants in India, transforming it from a transactional service into a human-centred experience. Migrants often face emotional and cultural dissonance, including discrimination, social isolation, and identity-based rejection, while existing platforms focus only on listings and payments. Through surveys, diary studies, digital ethnography, and focus groups, the project uncovers these hidden frictions. From these insights, Home Leaf emerges: a service design solution blending technology with trust. Its four interventions include (1) a trust-based profile ecosystem, (2) Agentic AI delivering emotionally resonant home suggestions, (3) a bridge agent for onboarding and cultural integration, and (4) modular rental formats with trial stays and lifestyle filters. By centering human centred housing and leveraging service design, Living Lines positions urban living as a space to belong rather than just reside, fostering rootedness, trust, and meaningful connections for migrants navigating India’s fast growing cities.
