The Summer Saree Collection explores the fusion of floral and aquatic themes with the traditional craft of kantha embroidery to create contemporary sarees for younger audiences. The project aimed to balance cultural heritage with modern aesthetics by enhancing printed textiles through intricate kantha stitching, showcasing the craftsmanship of West Bengal’s artisan clusters. Primary research involved visits to block printing units in Srirampur and Burdwan, along with an in-depth study of kantha embroidery techniques. The design process included brand and market analysis to align the collection with Taneira’s identity while introducing fresh and youthful visual directions. Production planning was conducted in close collaboration with artisans to ensure feasibility and authenticity. The final collection features lightweight fabrics, vibrant compositions, and motifs inspired by floral and aquatic forms, translating traditional craftsmanship into a contemporary summer wardrobe for evolving consumer preferences.
