This graduation project at the National Institute of Design explored the application of textile design learning within a real-world context, focusing on print development, surface exploration, material understanding, and storytelling. A Canopy in Kanha is a children’s bedding collection developed in collaboration with Zookeeper, an Ahmedabad-based studio known for its narrative-driven products for children. The project began with the aim of designing for a children’s furniture and décor brand and involved multiple stages of concept development, feedback, and alignment with the client’s vision. A key area of learning was digital print design, including scale, resolution, layout, colour accuracy, and sampling processes. Working within a small studio environment provided exposure to collaborative workflows and production systems. Inspired by forest and jungle imagery, the collection features engaging and comforting prints for young users, exploring how narrative, visuals, and materials can come together to create functional products suited to a child’s everyday environment.
