The Graduation Project at Tilfi, a luxury Banarasi handloom brand, focused on creating two collections rooted in Banarasi weave heritage. The first, a gifting textile collection, combined market research and customer insights to design stoles and saris for festive and casual occasions. Sub collections drew inspiration from culturally significant flowers and the Ghats of Banaras, blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary compositions and color palettes. The second project developed a Satin Tanchoi saree collection, replacing outsourced designs with original floral motifs reflecting Tilfi’s design language. The work involved motif development, layout planning, and attention to technique, timelines, and budgets, with a focus on handwoven textiles using katan and tanchoi techniques. Collaborating closely with founders provided insights into brand positioning, design strategy, and teamwork. The project enhanced technical skills design development, weaving knowledge, and color sensibility as well as soft skills like communication and adaptability, demonstrating how traditional crafts can be adapted for the modern luxury market.
