“AVAR – A Story of Acceptance “ is an animated short film that explores identity, acceptance, and self-discovery. The story follows Arjun, a young transman grappling with internal conflict and the quiet pressures of society. Set around the KSRTC bus stand in Kochi, the film begins in a familiar public space where Arjun encounters two transwomen. Among them, Priya serves as a catalyst for his internal struggle, triggering a fear he has long carried. Seeking distance, Arjun sits alone on a nearby bench, where he meets an old man who begins to speak to him. This encounter draws Arjun into a surreal world of creations—drawings, memories, and fragmented spaces—where Arjun questions authority, expresses anger, and challenges the old man about who decided that he was a girl at birth. Through this confrontation, Arjun begins to find answers and self-acceptance.
