Backpack Design for urban users must meet the demands of modern, mobile lifestyles. Many existing commuter backpacks fall short, offering limited tech organization, poor on-the-go access, and a mismatch between professional and casual aesthetics. This project explores Everyday Carry solutions by designing a versatile backpack that seamlessly supports urban commute and work-travel hybrid needs. Using a human-centered approach including interviews, surveys, shadowing, persona creation, and journey mapping, we uncovered pain points around disorganized storage, discomfort during extended wear, and aesthetic limitations. Iterative prototyping with tailors and pattern makers produced a modular, ergonomic design featuring concealed tech compartments, flexible silhouettes, and improved accessibility. User testing confirmed enhanced comfort, utility, and perceived value. This commuter backpack bridges work and leisure, offering a cost-effective, adaptable everyday carry solution. The project demonstrates how empathetic, contextual design can elevate urban carry gear, addressing both digital and physical needs of today’s mobile professionals.
