This project explores the making of a table lamp under the mentorship of Studio Srishti Dube, known for its nature-inspired handmade ceramic and glass objects. Initially focused on tableware, the brief later shifted to lighting, requiring the design of a table lamp aligned with the studio’s visual language. As lighting was new to the studio, the project involved learning technical aspects such as wiring, fittings, and light diffusion. Soft forms and simple geometries were developed to maintain continuity with the studio’s aesthetic. Materials including clay, wood, and glass were explored for their interaction with light and texture. Research, sourcing, testing, and development were carried out largely independently through hands-on experimentation. The project aimed to simplify and standardize the production process, making it accessible and cost-effective. Tea light holders were later introduced as companion products. The project provided a practical learning experience in industrial design, material exploration, and functional product development.
