The Graduation Project at the National Institute of Design is a semester-long, full-time industry engagement that integrates conceptual thinking with material and process understanding. It enables students to collaborate with industry partners, craft clusters, or independent studios to address real-world design challenges through research-led, hands-on practice. This project was undertaken in collaboration with Obeetee Private Limited, a leading manufacturer in the Indian carpet industry known for its heritage craftsmanship and design innovation. The objective was to explore the intersection of traditional carpet weaving techniques and contemporary design sensibilities to develop market-relevant carpet collections aligned with both domestic and international consumer preferences. The project sought to bridge academic learning with industry practices while contributing meaningfully to design development within a large-scale manufacturing context.
