Sites of Resistance is a multimedia project examining the intersections of gender, space, and identity politics within the Halba Koshti tribal community in old Nagpur. Rooted in the artist’s maternal lineage, the project investigates how patriarchal structures shape the built environment and the spatial agency of women. Through family archives, oral narratives, and ethnographic observation, space is explored as a socially produced entity imbued with memory and authority. The project engages with architecture and caste hierarchies, tracing the subtle seepage of patriarchal practices through gestures and silences. The artist’s relationship with her mother is central to understanding how gender is embodied and resisted across generations. The final outcome is a multi-sensory installation featuring a photobook, video performance, and archives. By centering women's lived experiences as critical knowledge systems, the work challenges dominant spatial discourses and invites dialogue on how bodies navigate power and trauma within everyday architectures.
