This graduation project focuses on designing a next-generation Transport Incubator for Phoenix Medical Systems, reimagining neonatal care with empathy, engineering, and design thinking. Existing incubators, developed in the early 2000s, no longer meet modern clinical, ergonomic, and emotional needs. Through secondary research, case studies, stakeholder interviews, and field observations, key challenges for EMT nurses, doctors, support staff, parents, and administrators were identified. The resulting design, Aura, emphasizes safety, maneuverability, and emotional warmth. Its modular incubator system features ergonomic access, a digital UI for vital monitoring, shock-absorbing interiors, mobile connectivity, and adaptable carrycot design for first mile and last mile handling. Conceptualized as a newborn sanctuary, Aura supports fragile journeys during intra and inter hospital transfers. This project applied 2.5 years of industrial design expertise and close collaboration with Phoenix’s engineering team, aiming to humanize life-saving devices and elevate the quality of neonatal care for India’s most vulnerable patients.
