This project is an extension of a third-semester complex design project that explored the integration of photo luminescent materials with ceramics. It focuses on in-depth research into material development, manufacturing processes, and potential applications of photo luminescent ceramics in public spaces. Photo-luminescent materials absorb light energy and re-emit it as visible light, enabling illumination without external power sources. This property offers opportunities for energy-efficient lighting, enhanced safety in low-light conditions, and dynamic visual interventions in architectural environments. The project specifically investigates the use of photo luminescent ceramics to improve safety and efficiency in Indian railway stations. Detailed studies of station environments were conducted to identify areas prone to accidents, injuries, or feelings of insecurity after dark. By implementing photo luminescent ceramics in these critical zones, the project aims to enhance passenger safety, reduce dependence on artificial lighting, and support sustainable, innovative infrastructure development.
