The objective of the project was to envision local search engines experiences across all Microsoft devices and services by creating experiences that were unique, would resonate with Microsoft’s customers, and would also give Microsoft an edge over competitors. The expectations of a local search service expect it to make use of information that is ambient and contextual to its user. This data is then meant to serve as a means to deliver local search results that are richer, contextual, and in turn, more relevant to the user’s current need. It is expected that the solution will maintain a fine balance between being practical and futuristic, with a focus on using existing technologies and data sources.
