The objective of the project was to study the Kolhapuri chappal and understand its value in the market. Developments were done starting from elements identification, ideation, illustrations, material study, and final mockup to create styles. The brief was to create a collection of footwear, which is unique, boho and which can be catered for mass market for the brand Global Desi. After the design was approved, samples were made for production. The final outcome comprised two collections of footwear: one was a colour blocked kolhapuri chappal with very few kolhapuri elements. The other collection created high fashion footwear with a lot of elements and western styling keeping the mass market in mind.
