‘Delhi is Not Far’ is a short fiction film based on a novella of the same name by Ruskin Bond, which tells the story of a creatively frustrated young writer and his love affairs with mundane things in life, as he resolves to make a move to Delhi from the small town of Pipalnagar. The plot revolves around the writer’s yearning to leave the small town and go to Delhi, which can only be fulfilled once he has paid up his overdue rent, failing which his landlord will not share an important letter that the postman has brought for him. The characters are all, in a way, caricatures of what Ruskin Bond had drawn up in his text.
