The project aimed at designing a range of distressed furniture inspired from colonial lifestyle using traditional hand crafted techniques, while using exotic, unexplored or less explored materials in the present design space. The project collection comprises a coffee table, a cabinet, a single door vitrine, and a side TV unit. The form of the furniture is predominantly cuboid for shipping and export convenience. The products are essentially made using mango wood, sheesham wood, and reclaimed wood with secondary materials such as copper, iron, brass, nickel, zinc, etc. affixed into these. Potassium Permanganate was used to treat the wood. The whole process was carried out manually using different types of techniques.
