Plugged: Engaging Children in Cycling

The project was designed around making bicycling more engaging and inviting to today’s youth. After understanding the sponsor’s and industry’s background, research was conducted to understand the concept of play in today’s younger generation, lifestyles and changing trends. Insights were generated, from which rose a system-level approach of merging physical play with the digital world.

Brainstorming, ideations and iterations gave birth to the final solution, with technical and marketing inputs. This new system was named PLUGGED and provided a model to interactively merge digital gaming with bicycling. A reward-based system was created to engage the new-age digitally inclined users in cycling regularly, maintaining their bicycles and practicing safety. The generated result was made in a way that it catered to all aspects of the sponsors’ requirements as a product manufacturer, top cycle brand and pioneer in bike-riding culture.
