MINI GLASS FURNACE
The main objective of the project was to redesign the bead-making furnace at NID. Also, a low cost, fuel-efficient small furnace would be helpful to artisans across the world, practicing glass crafts. A research on existing furnaces was done. Case studies on workspaces of glass practicing workshops were made. The basis of research and concepts were developed with focus on including the annealing chamber for controlled cooling of beads. Two working prototypes were made and tested with the craftsman. The main feature of the furnace was to increase work efficiency and ease of working.

The other part dealt with diversification of products other than beads and bangles. This included development of small pieces inspired from nature - animals, birds, insects. Techniques of soldering and wire works were explored and refined. These skills were disseminated in the cluster through a workshop held in their work environment.
