EXPLORING TEXTILE CRAFT TRADITIONS OF INDIA
The project was divided into three parts, covering hand block printed textiles of Bagh, Madhya Pradesh; Kantha of West Bengal and Ajrakh prints of Western India, as the craft forms to be worked upon. The major focus area was block printed textiles from Bagh which, despite being appreciated for many years, have started to lose their age-old elegance and appeal. The project was an attempt to bring back the lost elegance of the Bagh prints by looking back into the old archives and trying to revive its classic and traditional look.

After a thorough research on India’s traditional language of hand block printing, the process of product development was carried out with the printers at Bagh. The entire collection consisted of hand block printed saris, stoles dupattas, yardages and garments. This collection was supported by a range of silk blend and Ajrakh printed garments along with Kantha explorations.
