The objective of this project was to develop a unique design language for the recently introduced Mahindra Stallio motorcycle.
Ideation was based on the customer feedback. Few key sketches were selected with the help of studio mentors for further development and different media were used to express the overall feeling and form. In this phase, valuable inputs were given by the studio team regarding form and details which helped in developing the design further. Finally, out of three proposed directions, one was chosen and its sketch was refined.
Feedback was taken from the employees of MTWL and the same was analysed. During the tape drawing stage, the curves and stance were refined and finalised. The proportions were improved and packaging was done for the various components. After this, a 1:3 scale thermocol mock up was made to understand the surfaces better before working on the Alias 3D model. The 3D modelling stage was very important as it was the final output of this project.
This project gave a glimpse into the practical world of design, especially into the subject of motocycle design, learning more about Alias 3D Modelling was a rewarding experience and this is a very important tool in the industry. the research process gave insights into users’ aspirations, needs, and attachment towards their bikes. |
