This project was about desinging a Royal Enfield Classic with suitable futuristic technologies and market positioning along with envisaging its brand identity for 2025.


Primary research for the project comprised online research for new materials and technologies. The history of Royal Enfield was studied in an attempt to understand the design language and emotional values of the consumers. The target users identified included those who admired the Royal Enfield brand across different age groups or those who already owned or wished to own an Enfield.


A future scenario was developed based on this research, incorporating aspects such as trends, fashion, lifestyle, environment, social and economic conditions possible in the future. A vehicle was designed which satisfied the emotional needs of its users; the system was an eco-conscious hybrid power-train vehicle. The design features were influenced by technologies such as in-built infotainment system, collision warning, voice activation controls, regenerative braking, and more. After the sketching stage and a process of refinement, the final renders were taken forward for the 1:1 scale mock-up model. All the dimensions of the motorcycle were taken according to optimum ergonomic data. During the model making process, work was done with several materials ranging from modelling clay to metal and plastics, thus acquiring knowledge about various components of motorcycles.


This project taught to look at mobility solutions having a strong purpose and emotional connect with the users. As a designer, one’s skills, design sensibility, and perception greatly improved while handling a project of this scale.
