IDOS is a process and software (for the web) that efficiently manages pre-accounting, documents and accounting information before it is accounted. Fundamental features are to prepare vouchers along with supporting documents and storing them in electronic format. Since the accounting data is captured, it facilitates significant amount of business intelligence reporting that includes expenditure projection, variance analysis, location-wise income analysis, and AR/AP analysis among others.
IDOS also provides significant research capabilities whereby one can track any voucher along with supporting documents at any time and from any place with reference to multiple parameters. Small and medium sized firms have many issues when it comes to pre-accounting; some of these firms cannot afford accounting systems because of the costs and were never seen as a necessity that demands a big system in place. IDOS would help these firms bridge these short comings.
The project began with user research. Primary and secondary research gave a lot of insight into the working conditions and actual user needs. Methods such as task flow analysis and sampling were used to convert the research idea into the information architecture of the system. Various touch points and triggers were imbibed in the system based on the user’s journey in completing the tasks. The system also comprised of a lot of data analysis which was made possible through various analysis techniques.
The final deliverable included wire frames and visual designs for the product that could help users in pre-accounting. Overall, it was an end-to- end project that was never short of challenges and it was interesting to solve them through design. |
