The project focused on designing a scooter for school/college going girls in the age group of 16–18 in India. The new concept designed for 2015, would also have to be the next in line for the Scooty brand from TVS Motors which primarily focuses on personal transport for women.

The process was initiated after gaining familiarity with the history of scooters, followed by market research which included photographic analysis and personal interaction with target customers. The next phase of the process was to study competitor brands and understand the design cues in them. The area of study selected was Bengaluru; the city has a large young population, including students and professionals in various fields from all over the country.

After summing up the research, the theme for the new concept was decided upon. It had to be chosen in a way that it could be incorporated in the new concept keeping the Scooty brand alive. The final concept was a scooter which would be sporty in a very feminine way. After the selection of the theme, the process of conceptualisation and ideation began. This phase mainly consisted of sketching and digital rendering. Finally, one concept was selected for final refinement; this was then taken forward for a 1:1 Tape Drawing which was followed by a 1:1 clay mock-up for the same.

The project taught how beginning with a simple idea was always a good option. But this idea must have a strong identity of its own, and the same should reflect through each element of form and convey the core message.
