My diploma project titled BizTrack, aimed to come up with an interface on a handheld device (iPad) for senior management executives in a company such as Symantec that would help users get an overview of their business proceedings and work on the same while they were mobile.

A senior executive has many roles and is one of the busiest employees in a company. He/she must handle multiple time zones, hundreds of employees, top customers, media and so on. The executive is responsible for creating, reviewing and reforming strategies that help the business grow.

The data, though available in the system, are at different places, in different databases and handled by different people. Thus both sources of data i.e. system and people have to be managed. There is often a delay in getting real-time information. This application undertakes to coherently present the whole scenario in one place, making it easier for the user to take informed decisions without an unnecessary time-lag.

I mapped user concerns, needs, behaviours and expectations and then built a user story. A number of workflow options were created and concept ideation followed. Once concepts were analyzed and narrowed down to one, a low fidelity prototype was created. This was further evaluated and refined to produce a final, high fidelity prototype.

This diploma project proved to be the perfect bridge between academic life and industry. As a full design process of an interactive medium, it has been a very fulfilling experience.
