My animation film started off with my fascination for beards. I decided to tell the story of a five-year-old boy who has a fear of beards and lives his life curtailed by this feeling, until he realizes that it is not worth what he stands to lose.

The story deals with the intense mix of emotions that emerge from tangled relationships. Gora, who is very close to his ‘thamma’, nearly loses her due to his irrational fear of beards. It’s not long, before he realizes that his fear is not worth his loss.

The story deals with those difficult times when life challenges one with the hurdles one creates for oneself and the range of complex emotions that, in this story, lead to an enlightening end. Finally, Gora realizes that nothing can take away from him what he has and the person he is.

This was my first independent film. The journey was fairly long. I made many mistakes that, looking back at, seem very interesting. The most challenging experience for me was to keep retracing my steps to correct them. Fortunately, I dealt with my favourite subject and techniques and thus, could enjoy the ride through these ups and downs. Beards have and will always continue to fascinate me and now I have found meaning in them in the form of a story.
