Keywords Web design Online catalogue Corporate look Corporate brochure |
My client company’s brief involved the thriving expansion of their business to acquire few international clients. In order to showcase their business standards, they desired to revamp their website make give it an international look and feel. The functional aspect of their existing website was similar to an online catalogue’s i.e. showcasing products and services.
The core objective of my project was to achieve a corporate look and feel for the website so that it appeals to a global audience. For this, I had to devise the information architecture, reconstruct the structure of the given content and transfer the visual language to the brochure.
The design process started with data collection for the subject, analysing the target audience and choosing the medium for the project’s deliverables. Once I was clear in my head about the message, the medium and receiver, it was time for exploration. Keeping various design alternatives in mind, initial wire-frames for the website were built. Since the visual language had to be transferred to the corporate brochure, the medium differences and visual similarities were taken into consideration and the website’s content was re-sorted according to the brochure. The website was mainly for the customer-side design engineers, purchase personnel and managers, while the brochure was for managers and occasionally, purchase personnel.
I was fortunate to work in a team and experience how a project is built, keeping in mind clients’ expectations. The experience of working in a design house and adhering to strict deadlines was very enriching. |
