The project was to design a water purification system for the year 2020, taking the Indian scenario into account.
This unit has to cater to the needs of user s in future when it comes to purified water. The design had to take shape keeping the year 2020 in mind, which was the most challenging part of the project. Therefore it was necessary to carry out a trend study to visualize the scenario of water, and also the wider picture including the Indian homes and infrastructure keeping the set year in mind.
Apart from trend study, user interviews over a large age group sector were carried out, so that it would become more convenient to bridge the gap between the older and newer generations, keeping in mind their notions, beliefs and also the continuous paradigm shift. The constant shift in the nature of society creates a difference in beliefs, ideas and tastes in every generation. Along with the user study, studying the market in the present day scenario helped me to progressively visualize and analyse the minds of the users and emerging market trends.
My final design is called “FlowE”, which is a water purifier for the future (year 2020) with an intelligence and emotional based feedback system. Water as a commodity is fast depleting, and newer technologies are being formulated to tackle issues that are rising with the growing population. It was highly necessary to keep abreast with these upcoming technologies so that the final design is pronounced into the future.
Through this project I got the opportunity to build upon my design thinking process and also to work on my skills, by exploring extensively on paper as well as CAD modelling. |
