Very little is known about how consumers make purchase decisions in online shopping environments. The primary objective of this project was to understand the needs of such users and express it on an android-based device.

The unique characteristic of some online shopping environments is that they allow vendors to create retail interfaces with highly interactive features. Some of these features heighten the users understanding of the product and thus assist them in making the decision to buy the product. The availability of such tools for consumers may lead to a transformation in the way in which shoppers search for product information and make purchase decisions.

In this project, the user research was conducted primarily to understand the behaviour of poten¬tial users, their environments, attitudes, aptitudes and motivations. Its first part dealt with understanding the behav¬iour of android users while the second part of the research involved finding out the section of android users, who were avid shoppers and wanted the right deals for most of the products they purchased. To understand the users’ requirements, interviews were conducted, which finally led to the creation of personas.

The app homescreen is of primary importance to any android app. In this case, the best way to convert a user into a potential buyer would be by suggesting deals to him. The sign in option nudges registered eBay users who wish to access their accounts on eBay. To perform functions such as ‘buy’ or ‘watch’, the user needs to sign it. However, this can be achieved once the user decides to commit to a product.

With the launch of newer versions of android, new interaction patters have emerged. This project has taught me how to use these patterns to provide a better experience to the user.
