Keywords User experience UX framework Tablets Application |
My diploma project involved designing a scalable User Experience (UX) framework for Bing across tablets. The project looked at both the search and browse experience of Bing while focusing on making it more unified, richer and usable. Not only did I strive for seamless interactions but also for creating a delightful experience.
The project was targeted at tablet or to-be tablet users of all age groups. The design process started with understanding the areas involved in the project, then doing extensive research to understand the medium, user behaviour and technology. Usability analysis of the current design, mapping user needs, creating personas, scenarios and use cases helped give me direction in my design process. Ideation, creation of low fidelity sketches, mid-fidelity wireframes, user feedback and high fidelity mock-ups with prototype on the device followed. It was a highly iterative process that involved constant interactions with users for coming up with the final design. A working prototype of the Bing app was made on the device using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Animations were also prototyped.
The final deliverable was the UX framework for the Bing App for tablets that consisted of search experience, domain experience, interaction framework, information architecture, information design, visual language, animation and the prototype of the final design.
I am delighted that I had the opportunity to work on such an interesting project. I learnt a lot from the exposure I got at Microsoft during the course of this project. |
