The objective of this project was to design online flash-based games on the Indian culture and art forms. Nowadays, visual games have a massive appeal and youngsters often remember each and every element of a game once they have experienced and enjoyed it a number of times.

I decided to use this opportunity to design an experience that would help the gaming generation to learn and know more about their country by simply playing a game. The target users are office-goers in the age group of 20-30 years.

I conducted a study on the brief through brainstorming, surveys, mind-mapping, theme board and mood board. The identification of favourable themes and genres was followed by conceptualization of game mechanics. My final deliverables were eight game designs for casual flash-based online games in the form of game design documents.

As a designer I was expected to design games to promote the sponsor’s website so that it could compete in the huge online gaming market alongside the big names. Keeping that in mind, I embarked on a journey that was full of learning, correcting mistakes, design interventions and that broadened my knowledge in the field of gaming. Playing games in order to understand their USPs and seeing the designs being brought to life by the game development team were the best experiences I ever had.
