My project aimed to design a language kit for pre-schoolers. Having conducted research on the school education systems and the markets, I sought to find gaps in the segments, identify the educational products that were lacking and subsequently provide the appropriate products.

After conducting the market study, I realized that there is a dearth of educational kits and games that pre-schoolers can have fun with. Teachers, parents and professionals require early-learning or teaching aids for children of four years and above that enable the kids to have fun while learning important skills such as language. I conducted user studies on parents, shopkeepers and schoolteachers through questionnaires and studied how effectively a child develops cognitive skills, speech or understanding of the language. After analyzing the data and representing it visually, I moved towards concept generation and designed a character.

The project’s outcome was a range of educational toys and teaching aids that would help a pre-schooler learn a language. These products have multiple uses and are user-friendly, attractive and help children with hand-eye co-ordination.

This diploma project involved an immersion into fantasies and tales and then the realization of a reality. It was a great experience.
