My diploma project was to design the identity of DARA (Dastkar Andhra Retail Agency), a sister organisation to DAMA (Dastkar Andhra Marketing Association), and standardize the identities of its other sister organizations and give them a proper guideline for the application of the identity across different media. As this organization had two sister organizations and different marketing channels as well, it was important to understand how they were interrelated so as to communicate something which could connect the organizations and still give each of them a strong individual identity.
The design process started with creating an identity for DARA and giving it a proper brand position under the umbrella, which was followed by refinement and standardization of DA RA and DAMA identities. I designed an information booklet on handloom for all its associated organizations targeting a wide range of customers and also designed information panels for DAMA exhibitions as an education to the people across the country. The target group for this project was all the associate organizations of DA and people across the country. Designing after understanding the constrains and possibilities without losing the importance of message, working with different mediums and materials, the micro and macro aspects of small scale to large scale communication and important interrelation between the content and the context added to my learning while working on this project. This project made me understand in the right context, right content can communicate well even without the help of any embellishment. |
