My diploma project was to re-design a website/web store for Namo, which helps customers all over the world to access the product range through an online catalogue and shop from wherever they are. Namo is a design house which specializes in the devotional space. It is a celebration of Indian lifestyles which is a fascinating blend of traditional and modern aspects in everyday life. The prime idea of design intervention in online shopping was not only to have a good looking website that could be listed in a lot of search engines. The website was rather expected to satisfy consumer’s expectations since a majority of consumers choose online shopping for faster and more efficient shopping experience these days. The project was divided into phases; each phase progressed after drawing inferences from the earlier one. I designed various alternatives of the visual language and narrowed down to one which was taken up further to build the final design. The target group was the modern urban household (not necessarily Indian). The most probable buyer was in the age group of 35+. I learned a lot of technical and practical design tips while working on this project which made me realize that the only way one can really improve is by practicing and performing. Experience plays an important role in the whole process. This project turned me into a more matured designer. |
