Axiom education is in process of rolling out franchise model on pan-India basis. They
have named it as Braingym. Braingym is a space which provides knowledge to children
through different methodologies giving the children independence to choose their own.
My diploma project brief was to design seating furniture for the study space of Braingym
which also included conceptualization of layout and space ensuring flexibility in layouts
using non conventional designs.
My design process and research was an immersive experience which gave me insights
to develop the project further. The design process continued and the design of the
seating furniture were re-evaluated to develop different concepts out of which few were
taken forward in order to give the franchise ample options to choose from. My primary
objective was to make the furniture playful and interactive for children considering their
playing habits and at the same time not compromising on their comfort.
It is difficult to convince people to accept the improvisation which is rather
unconventional. But if the efficacy of the design is proved, the product is accepted,
though the process becomes lengthy and requires lots of patience.
The overall learning from the project has given me useful insights and has helped me
developed my design skills which I can now take up further to set up new ventures and
develop new designs. The project is now at the stage of implementation. |
